Winemaker's Notes: This first release from our own Russian River vineyard was produced from 30 year old vines. A deep toned, usually complex wine that shows an earthy, chocolate exterior, overlying a rich dark cherry fruit base. Mouthwatering and generous, this wine will continue to blossom well into the next decade.

(1999 Cab Franc) SILVER ... Sonoma County Harvest Fair
Harvested October 1, 1997 at 26.3 degrees Brix, 0.66% total acidity and 3.31 pH. Barrel aged for 20 months in 50% new French, Hungarian and American oak. Bottled June 8, 1999 at 13.95 % alcohol), 0.64% total acidity and 3.57pH
Winemaker's Notes: The 1997 growing season was unusually warm and so allowed our Cabernet Franc to ripen fully, producing an exceptionally rich & concentrated wine. Normally we blend in a small portion of Cabernet to augment the shy tannins that this cool region produces, but this year, the wine found its own balance and stands proudly as 100% varietal.
The aroma of this wine virtually explodes with rich chocolate and berry aromas. Smooth on the palate with firm structure and toasty oak tannins. Enjoyable now, cellar for five to seven years to experience this wine at its peak.
SILVER Medal Winner Sonoma County Harvest Fair
Harvested 10/22/98 at 24.0 Brix, 0.60% total acidity, 3.55 pH. Aged surlies in 47% new French oak. Bottled in July 1999 at 14.1% alcohol, 0.65% total acidity; 3.30 pH.
Winemaker's Note: We could not have chosen a better vintage for our first Chardonnay. The long cool 1998 season allowed the grapes to ripen with maximum flavor development. The wine shows, the classic Russian River intense spice, along with accents of apricot, vanilla and nutmeg. A mouthful, this Chardonnay delights the palate with its rich, ripe texture. Should age well into the next decade.
